How to Make Sylvie’s Crown Horns from Marvel’s “Loki” on Disney+

There is no better trickster than the God of Mischief.

From the moment I first watched Thor, I was enamored by Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, and later, gobbled up every Young Avengers comic that featured him as a teenager. He was charismatic, sarcastic, and conflicted. He was the younger sibling of someone seen as a golden child, and constantly compared to them. I think anyone would get a little vindictive when they’re always coming in second place to someone they didn’t see as deserving.

I always had a complicated attitude when it came to my sister Liz. She was quieter where I was loud. She was docile where I was rebellious. I was at times brashly honest and uncaring about what people thought of me. Meanwhile, getting her to socialize was like pulling teeth. People assumed she was the nicer of us two because she seemed to be the calmer one. It formed a dichotomy of assumptions that have followed us even decades later. Liz, the nice one. Jess, the mean one.

But siblings, as close as we are, see our real selves reflected in each other. We are far from perfect, but we are also far from being 1-dimensional. I saw Loki on screen, and I understood him. While everyone else saw Thor as a faultless hero, he saw all his brother’s flaws. And once you see them, they’re hard to forget.

The difference between Loki and I is that I was able to still let myself see all the good things. Loki, however, was often blinded by jealousy and insecurity. In “Loki” we get to see him at his best, in a world where he is no longer competing with Thor and can just be himself, a man in the grey. He finally could befriend people in real ways and grow without judgement.

I’ve grown too. I’m not incredibly bothered by the assumptions people make about Liz and me. So what if they think I’m the sarcastic one or the lazy one? It just means they don’t really see me or my sister. Because Liz can be so so very sarcastic. I admire her rare, but golden quips. She can be mean when she has to be, in a way that makes me proud because she’s spent too many years being a doormat. She has a big heart like Thor, and also like him, she finally knows her worth and is willing to be tough on me when she has to, just like Thor is with Loki in Ragnarök.

I think, like Loki, I’ve outgrown the chip on my shoulder that comes with being the younger sibling. Getting to live my own life, make my own friends, and forge my own path has helped me embrace me. Yeah, I am the mean one. Don’t you forget it!

We’ve watched these brothers fight against each other and for each other, hate each other and love each other in equal measure. That’s what it’s like to grow up with siblings, and Loki and I are better off because of it. I just wish Sylvie had had the same chance as us.
